Information and pricing for Peace Pups sled dog cart rides:
Join us for fall training and come along on a dog cart ride in one of our custom dog carts. What is a dog cart you might ask. A dog cart is basically a wheeled sled used to exercise our dogs in the fall months in preparation for the winter sledding season. These carts are the ultimate in dry land dog travel, full suspension, four wheel disk brakes, and comfortable seating. If you have always wanted to go for a sled ride but have been concerned about getting into or out of a sled you might want to consider a cart tour. The carts have bucket seats and they are higher off of the ground than the sleds making them easier to get in and out of.
We have two double seat carts going out per run which allow us to take out four passengers (possibly more if you have smaller children). Please scroll down for photos of the carts.
For larger groups we can have half of your party meet us at the turn around point and we can switch out passengers there so that everyone has a chance to ride with the dogs. Please call to discuss options and possible price breaks on groups of more than four.
Our slide show and time in the dog yard is a part of these tours. After your run with the teams you have as much time as you like to interact with the dogs. Once you have had enough time with the dogs we can warm up by the wood stove and watch our slide show which explains a bit about the history of dogsledding and the history of Peace Pups.
Cart tours are limited to cooler temperatures and will most likely not be available in the months of June, July, and August unless we have a colder than normal summer in which by all means give us a call. We typically run these from early September through early December and sometimes in the spring after the snow has melted. For the safety of the dogs we do not run with carts unless the temperature is under 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
*Note: Fall cart tour times adjust according to the daylight. In September when we typically begin running we like to go as late as possible to run in the coolest part of the day. The usually means around 4:00 or 5:00. Once we get into October we will run around 3:00 or 4:00 so the run is still in daylight. November requires that we run even earlier due to the time change and we need to get out by 2:00 or 3:00 in order to be completed before it is dark.
For these outings we recommend wearing cloths you don't mind getting dirty. Our dogs are very friendly and if you choose to interact with the dogs in the dog yard you just might end up with one or two sitting in your lap . We do count them before you leave so don't entertain any thoughts of taking one home with you!

This season we are offering a free 16oz. bottle of delicious Vermont maple syrup from our friends at Osborne Family Maple for all bookings in the month of October. Please mention this offer when booking. Minimum two person booking, limit one bottle per group.
This is our custom Peace Pups tour cart. This cart offers bucket seats, a plush suspension, ample leg room, a better view of the dogs and scenery and it's easier to talk with the person you are riding with. Due to the smooth ride these carts allow us to run on trails that would have been much too bumpy with our old style carts.
Don't miss the beauty of fall in Vermont!
The temperatures are dropping and there is a palpable excitement in the air. Our Siberians know that it’s time to run and they are more than ready after a relaxing summer playing in the dog yard. They know we are coming into our favorite time of the year. For anyone who has never seen the joy of a Siberian husky as they roll in the year’s first snow it’s an amazing thing to behold. You can’t help but be caught up in the excitement and having the privilege to participate in it is one of my life's biggest pleasures. Take a ride to Lake Elmore, bundle up in a warm sweater and let our team take you for a ride through the Vermont country side. There is nothing like fall with the smell of wood smoke in the air, rotting leaves on the ground and the sounds of geese overhead as they head south for the winter. It’s sure to be one of the most unique ways of viewing the fall foliage you'll ever experience.
We continue to run cart tours if winter conditions remain elusive.
The pups still need their exercise so if we can't get out on sleds in December or January we continue to run with the carts. If you are visiting the area and the skiing is less than ideal and you are looking for something new and exciting to do come on over to Lake Elmore for cart tour. The pups would love to meet you and take you for a spin!
